Clube Atlético Mineiro and Fluminense FC have secured their spots in the Copa Libertadores, South America's premier club competition. The Brazilian giants earned their berths by finishing in the top four of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A, the country's top flight. Atlético Mineiro finished third, while Fluminense FC claimed fourth place.
Atlético Mineiro and Fluminense FC will be joined in the Copa Libertadores by fellow Brazilian clubs Flamengo and Palmeiras. Flamengo won the Copa Libertadores in 2019 and 2022, while Palmeiras triumphed in 2020 and 2021.
Copa do Brasil Exit for Atlético Mineiro and Fluminense FC
With their qualification for the Copa Libertadores, Atlético Mineiro and Fluminense FC will now turn their attention to the Copa do Brasil, Brazil's national cup competition. Both clubs were eliminated from the Copa do Brasil in the semifinals, losing to Flamengo and Corinthians, respectively.
Atlético Mineiro will face Flamengo in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final on Wednesday, September 12. The second leg will be played on October 19. Fluminense FC will face Corinthians in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil final on Thursday, September 13. The second leg will be played on October 20.
