Primož Roglič’s Tour de France hopes dashed by crash

Roglič crashes out of Tour de France on stage 9

Primož Roglič, one of the favorites for this year's Tour de France, has crashed out of the race on stage 9. The Slovenian rider was involved in a crash with around 35 kilometers to go on the stage from Aigle to Châtel, and was forced to abandon the race due to his injuries.

Roglič had been sitting in second place overall at the start of the stage, just 39 seconds behind race leader Tadej Pogačar. He was expected to be one of Pogačar's main challengers for the yellow jersey, but his crash has ended his hopes of winning the Tour this year.

Roglič expected to make full recovery

Roglič was taken to hospital after the crash, where he was diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder and a fractured elbow. The injuries are not life-threatening, and Roglič is expected to make a full recovery.

Roglič's crash is a major blow to his team, Red Bull - BORA - hansgrohe. The team had been hoping to challenge for the overall victory with Roglič, but his crash has now ended those hopes.

Roglič's crash is also a blow to the Tour de France itself. The race has lost one of its top riders, and the absence of Roglič will make the race less competitive.
